Steve C left this review about The Candlemaker
The Candlemaker is a modern Young’s establishment with bar area at the front and large restaurant to the right rear. Seating runs along the front windows and there is a small drop to the U-shaped bar area behind. The television in the bar area was off during a recent Wednesday afternoon visit, but live sport is advertised. There was some background music playing.
The bar is stocked with premium keg and the four hand pumps were drawing Young’s Ordinary and Special alongside St Austell’s Proper Job and Weston’s Rosie’s Pig cider. The service was polite, and I thought this place was OK when compared to some of the other bars in the area.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Candlemaker
Very modern Young's pub (confusingly known as Smiths of Smithfield for a short time after it opened) in the Wallbrook building. Comprises a 'L'-shaped layout overall, with slightly split-level seating areas between the windows and the counter, with tables laid-up for dining further back. Four handpumps on the counter, which should have been dispensing Ordinary, Special, Hiver honey beer and Southwark Southside Blonde but annoyingly a cellar problem unfortunately meant that they were all off temporarily when I visited. Beavertown Neck Oil session IPA looked like the best of the keg options, but turned out to be horribly overpriced at £5.95.
