Old Hunters Tavern was by far the busiest pub I visited during a recent Tuesday evening crawl of Stalybridge. Some were dressed up so I think there may have been a function, but they were all locals. There were also a lot of young very well behaved lads in who I had down as being a sports team. There was a good mix of people which generated a good atmosphere which was enhanced by the exceptionally friendly service. This is a Robinson’s pub so the two out of three hand pumps in operation were drawing Dizzy Blonde (good) and Unicorn. Premium keg was also available alongside Carling. The serving counter faces seating along the right-hand windows in the slender bar area. The seating continues across the front of the pub and to the left front is a separate seating area. In the right rear is a snug. Televisions throughout were airing Champions League football via TNT Sports. I liked it in here so would return.

A very nicely modernised Robbies pub. Bare brick outside. Inside there's a small lounge to left with smart green leather seating and a large TV. There's another small lounge to the rear. 3 handpumps on the bar sering Dizzy Blonde, Unicorn and the seasonal B.A. Baracus which was OK, but not in tip top condition. They serve food at lunchtimes from 12 - 2. It's all pleasant enough, but a bit antiseptic for me.

Very friendly local. 3 real ales available. A narrowish lounge area with a bar area to the side.
